Pokémon Diamond/Pearl Info

Famitsu magazine has revealed a lot of information about the upcoming Pokémon games for the DS.

- The release date for Diamond and Pearl is Sepetember 28th, 2006 in Japan
- The two legendary Pokémon are called Diaruga and Parukia
- Second screen is used for the menus in battles
- Voice chat is said to be included in the WiFi battles

I haven't bought a Pokémon game since Pokémon Ruby came out for GBA, but I'm really looking forward to these games. They seem like they're providing a lot more value than the others. It's shaping up really well and I can't wait to get back into that fun, Pokémon feel.

dsplay rekindles my love for acww

i find animal crossing to be very addicting, it is very simple and lite. when i bought the game, i played for hours on end, until i payed my whole house off and made my town look like the land of any players dreams. i started to play less and less, my town started to look like crap. then for 2 months i did'nt touch the game, finding it a chore to always water my plants. then i started to not care, until my town looked like the ruins of ancient egypt. it stayed that way for one more month. i then bought my m3. i started to play again, but something was missing.
something very vital to the gameplay that i was lacking was not there. i found that to be online play. so i logged into www.ds-play.com and started to chat with the members. i started to allow them into my town. finding out that i was able to help noobs with my new found hacking abilities. since then i think my love for animal crossing grows even further, i think ill be playing it again for a long time. thanks to dsplay i can enjoy my online game once more! i request that if you havent registered at dsplay then u do so NOW!!!!

i have been playing this game for a while now, and currently i am at the fifth chapter. in the time span of four hours i managed to figure out most of the story. first off the main character, named ashely is looking for her father in an island called, "blood edward island." she has traveled all the way from seattle to visit her father, who sent a note and a nds to her via express mail. now im not gonna ruin the story, but this game is incredibly addicting. the story just draws you in, and the emotions are very real. when jessica goes missing, ashley gets worried. all ashley wants are answers to her questions. she want to know who her father is and where her mother is. along the way she has a ghostly encounter with a boy named, "d," they both share the need for answers. gameplay wise its very practical to the story. you play like a detective trying to solve various puzzles. like trying to unlock a door, playing a music box, and etc. the puzzles work very well with the game, and it is very rewarding once the puzzle is solved. moreover, the touch and click style interface suits this type of game very well, because it allows the player to use the touch screen for both navigateing and puzzle solveing. i find this game to be very captivateing and imaginative, certainly one of the better games of the nds catalogue. as i was nearing the end of the game, i felt an unravelling unfold, and everything seemed to be clear. all the mysteries were solved. this game is really awsome, on my scale it deserves an 8/10. the replayability is not really appealing, also some of the puzzles were really hard to put together, luckily i had gamefaqs on my side. Lstly, one of my biggest vices with nintendo games is that: they should have added voices and cutscenes. I really hate reading so much, but dont really mind it because according to doctor kawiawa fr brain age it excersises the pareital lobe ;)

"xboy" to come out this year? - rumor alert

the portable gameing device dubbed the, "xboy," may jut be not so speculative at all. according to bloomberg an xboy is comming out, however its not really what people think. this device is supposed to rival the ipod in functionality. some proposed functions are, transfering music without a cpu, playing music and video. the real kicker is that it will not have any gameing functions.

Nintendo has just announced a series of games under a new category of "Bit Generations". The games are focused on gameplay, as most new Nintendo games are. These games will be the Gameboy's answer to the DS's "Touch Generation" series of titles. There are currently seven games planned for release in the coming weeks in Japan. The titles include: Dotstream, Boundish, Dialhex, Coloris, Digidrive, Orbital, and Soundvoyager.

The look for all of these games is very retro. The colors and themes are very bodacious to be sure. No word yet on whether NOA will localize these titles for American release. Here's hoping :) If not, these are definitely high on my import list.

Take Two and Rockstar heart Wii

Rumors are flying around the web today of the possibility that publisher Take Two, and developer Rockstar might be making games for Nintendo's Wii. NGC France is where this rumor is coming from. They mention that Take Two's president Paul Eibeler made mention of Wii development. Games that were mentioned were all of the 2K sports games, and Rockstar's Table Tennis.

This is very interesting news indeed, especially since the Table Tennis game makes so much sense when used with the Wiimote. I'm hoping this comes true, because more support is always a good thing for Nintendo as it releases its very revolutionary console.

square-enix are concerened about the amount of ds/lite supplies. their reasoning is that they beleive that if there are significant system shortages, it wwont push the game out of the shelves as effective as high system supplies. basicalkly they want to meet the supplie and demand for their game. could ff 3 be the next ff7 phenomena?

M3 perfect and flash card review

The M3 perfect and flashcard version 3 come in very snazzy boxes. when i got them in the mail it was like christmas again! i pulled it out and loaded my things on and played!

gba games: first i would like to say that games on the M3 and flashcard work flawlessly! i was amazed at how multi-functional this device is. It is very easy to load gba games. the "game manager," comes with the M3 adapter. all you do is click on the type of memory you have on your adapter, in my case a mini sd card. then choose the directory of the removable memory, and lastly the button, "write gba."

it is very simple. moreover the way it plays is very intuitive, most games work!today i felt like playing final fantasy, so i loaded the game in and put my sd card on the m3 adapter, pressed start on the ds menu to load gba mode and i was done. I was playing like a pro! It was so simple! final fantasy IV was awsome to play, the saves were perfect, it loaded the save onto the m3 internal memory. when i shut it off and turned it on it stored it on the sd card for future uses. see the way saves work is this, the m3 "temporarily," saves the game on its battery, then when the user shuts it off and reboots it, the save will automatically transfer to the sd card, for when the game will be played again. up to 200 gba and 200 ds games can be saved on to the sd card, really fasinateing!
nds games: i am so releived that i bought the M3 adapter I don't know what i would have done without it. so many great awsome games are already out, that it is impossible to afford all of them! the m3 adapter plays nds games flawlessly it is very amaseing that the nds homebrew has gotten far enough into copieing nds games i am really impressed. basically its the same steps as the gba games however, instead of pressing the, "gba write button," you press the, "ds write button," after that a menu comes up. the menu is really simple i havent touched it much, all i touch in the menu is, "sofware reset," and, "same method for all games," so i dont have to babysit my ds games copying onto my sd card. when i booted up my first game, metroid prime hunters, i was extremely delighted that it worked. moreover i was even more surprised that the wifi was working, i played online for 5 mins then my head started to hurt. Lastly touch screen control is awsome! :( fps hurt my head, for that i will never buy another fps AGAIN. heres some screens for all of you.

videos: video playback is ok, its not really fantastic and super. it really is a hassle at first, it has too many details for me to explain so i will explain the basics: the movies are converted to a format called, ".dpg," for a homebrew program called, "moonshell," and then they are copied and pasted onto the sd card manually. sounds easy but in all honesty is really confuseing. BEWARE of this feature, it has many flaws. some flaws that i found were, the learning curb is very high, one must know how to operate a cpu well, although the programs are included in the installation discs i found the video programs to be very buggy- showing many errors when i attempted to convert my movie and the moonshell program embeded into the m3 does not play video. Inorrder to play movies on moonshell, i had to install the latest version of it onto my sd card, problem was that i could'nt find a version with a setup iniciator. i was pissed off! The second way to play videos is through the m3 menu embeded into the m3 itself.
although it is easier it definately has less quality. i use the moonshell to play my videos. Still i find movie play on portables a cheap gimmick, i dont really watch movies on it. Lastly on both converters, to convert a movie it usually takes a super extra long time. YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED!

music: music is easy, this is probly one of the best features on the m3 perfect. all the user has to do is copy and paste the mp3 onto the sd card and go to moonshell. to activate moonshell, the user must click select on the m3 main menu. i will not explain the other way because it is completely USELESS!

skins: what i really love about the m3 perfect is the ability to have skins. the skins truely make the m3 look more professional. to add skins onto your m3 you must, download it, then place the, "system," folder containing the skin in the root of the sd card. (for m3 os) And for the moonshell os, you have to make a, "shell," folder and place it in the sd card copying all the skin files onto the, "shell," folder.

inconclution i rate this product five stars out of five stars. i really dint care about the extra features, all i cared about was the gameing! this product is really good. the m3 and passcard version 3 are the best combo EVER!

Wii Front Cover: Mystery Solved

The latest issue of Game Informer magazine has an interview with Nintendo of America's President, Reggie Fils-Aime. In this interview, the Regginator dropped a couple bombs. He talked about ways the WiiConnect24 feature would work in certain games. He also had this to say about the mystery of the front cover on Wii:

What is the little door on the front of the unit?

Fils-Aime: That is where an SD card goes. That’s storable media. And on top, are the attachments for the GameCube controllers.

So will SD cards be the primary storage medium?

Fils-Aime: It will be one of the memory mediums, and it’s the only one that we’ve announced.

Reggie has confirmed what a lot of people expected, that the front slot would indeed be used for SD cards. He also says that this will not be the only method of storage on the system. We already know the Wii will hold 512MB of onboard flash memory. And we also know that the Wii has two USB ports on the back of the console.

Sounds to me like Nintendo is covering its bases when it comes to having plenty of storage for their games and their Virtual Console service.

New details were revealed recently about Metroid Prime 3: Corruption. The following list contains the major additions/updates to the game:

"Hyper Mode" is back

Huge environments, bloom lighting, and improved animations

WiiConnect24 will be used, though specifics were not mentioned

Corruption will be last Metroid game in "Prime" series, though the Metroid series itself will expand for later games

Carbon Wii

Electronic Arts has announced that Need for Speed: Carbon will be coming to all systems this fall. Wii will be host to this next outing as well as the DS. The game promises more intense racing by way of "canyon racing". The game will still incorporate a lot of the features from previous iterations in the franchise's history such as customization and huge environments.

I'll definitely be looking forward to this one when the Wii launches this Winter. Here's hoping we get treated to some wifi multiplayer as well :D

Word has it that the latest playable incarnation of Red Steel for Wii is shaping up rather nicely. The reviewers describe how the controls have been tightened up considerably. Most notable is the improvement to the sword-fighting sequences. Now the animations are more fluid and follow your actual movements.

This is very exciting news to see the developers fine-tuning these first-gen Wii titles.

- Pricing details for Wii will be announced during or before September 2006
- Nintendo plans on shipping 6 million Wii systems by the end of March 2007
- Software needs to provide value both price-wise and content-wise
- Now that the DS production period is over, Nintendo is focusing on where to take their handheld ventures next

FFIII Wifi Confirmed

IGN has breaking news coming from rumors surrounding the new Final Fantasy III game for Nintendo DS. The rumors started when Nintendo Power subscribers noticed a Nintendo WiFi Connection logo on the FFIII game article. IGN spoke with Square-Enix about this and they have confirmed that FFIII will utilize the wifi connection in some way. They left it at that.

So will FFIII have online co-op play? Online battles? Downloadable content? Time will tell. I can't wait for this game.

Retro Review: Chrono Trigger (SNES)

Chrono Trigger is an amazing achievement in the wide spectrum of RPG games throughout the years. Released on August 22, 1995, Chrono Trigger redefined the way we played RPGs. It's "free-form, dynamic, turn/time based" fighting system is one that has inspired many a game since its release. I've recently played through this game and have thoroughly enjoyed every minute. The storyline provides a wide gamut of experiences.

The game revolves around the main character: Crono (or whatever you happen to call him). Through certain events he encounters a great adventure that spans time itself. Travelling through various time periods to stop a threat to the planet is not an easy task. The game can start off kinda slow, but one can eventually become entranced with the many quests throughout each time period. This game is not for the faint of heart. There is a bit of a learning curve, but the controls are very intuitive and can be easily mastered in the first hour of encountering battles.

Speaking of which, the battles are not encountered randomly. Once you enter an area, you are subject to various enemies, but they will not return to those spots unless you leave and come back. This helps a lot when you are leveling your characters up. All you need to do is go into an area (cave, dungeon, or mountain) and fight some enemies and easily escape the way you came in without having to fight the same baddies again.

The feature that makes Chrono Trigger so unique is how it ends..or ends (plural). Since there are multiple time periods, bosses have to be defeated in all periods. The final boss is in many different forms throughout these time periods thus resulting in 13 different endings to the game. It can definitely add to the replay value for sure, and the added challenge to the game.

Overall, Chrono Trigger went above and beyond my expectations of an RPG. It was an excellent game to have towards the end of the SNES' lifecycle. If you have an SNES, play this game. If you don't have an SNES, go buy one off eBay.

It is definitely worth it.

i an interview with egm shigeru miyamoto and satoru iwata had a few peices to reveal about wii. miyamato revealed that ther will not be a microphone embeded in the wiimote because of cost. they are hopeing for a headset which will not conect to the wiimote but perhaps wirelessly. moreover, nintendo are looking for ways to update grafics on the virtual console. also, they are looking for ways to utilize the "we connect 24," into the legend of zelda: twilight princess. finally, they are looking forward to increased third party support from japanese developers, but not western developers.

a new phoenix wright has been announced tentatively named, "gyakuten saiban 4," creative issnt it? this installation includes the same gameplay mechanics as the previous version. it will be seven years after the events of gyakuten saiban 3. this time around the player will play the roll of odoroki hosuke who will also have a sidekick named minuki, who is a magic magician. the game seems fun and i truely hope it sees a future outside of japan.

ive been a hardcore gamer since the days of the gamecube, however ive been playing games since the snes days. back then i didnt know who even created mario, or what company he came from, all i knew was that mario was fun and sonic was fun. i didnt care at all how nintendo or any company faired in any industry. those were good times and i remember it so vividly. i got an n64 near the end of its life, and i was flaberghasted. i got mario 64, killer instinct, and cruisin usa, they were all awsomn games. 3 christmases later i got a gamecube with mario sunshine and metroid prime, o it was exciteing, till i searched the internet for "gamecube updates." i wanted to search for new games and upcomeing games so i would be prepared to buy them. then i saw all of this news, "ps2 beating gamecube, nintendo sells rare, left feild, factor five deserts gamecube, capcom five no longer capcom five," i was begining to think the gamecube was not so kool after all. i then accidentally came across the forums of cube-europe and all i saw was fighting over which system would reign surpreme. i didnt know that their was such a world of intrest in regards to videogames. i saw all of them fanboys to casuals to dumbasses. it was all fun and i dont regret being a hardcore gamer. the next gen war is near, im awaiting the future to see where videogames will come to. are you?

MAD CHEDDAR! nintendo is beating out sony in handheld sales. even the gba is close to the psp's sales! according to aussie nintendo the Nintendo DS has sold over 227,369 units across the country, Sony's PSP has sold over 161,623 units and Nintendo's Game Boy Advance has sold more than 145,345 units. Lets keep up the good hopes cus nintendos dark days are almost OVER?

i just watched the latest trailer of elebits, an upcoming game for the wii, developed by konami. the video depicts and introduces elebits, which are creatures that originated from a thunderbolt hitting the crust of the earth. The best part of the trailer is when the elebits dance, its so funny and quirky. it seems very interesting and fun. i am definately hyped for this game. i never thought much about it at first, however when i saw this trailer my eyes opened wide. i thought it was just a pikmin copy however it really is not. Inconclution, this is one of those games that i will have to watch on my super secret radar.

ubisoft bringin more wii love

This is great news for anyone eagerly anticipating the Wii launch. Ubisoft has sent word to American retailers that they will be releasing 5, count 'em FIVE, games in addition to Red Steel. The games mentioned were: "Blazing Angels"--WWII air combat game, "GT"--racing game, "Monster Trucks"--kinda generic i know, but the most exciting announcements by far were of a new Prince of Persia game and FarCry.

Sounds like Ubisoft has officially jumped on the Wii bandwagon. With all this news of developer support for Wii, who do you think will be next to confirm major support for the up-and-coming console? LucasArts? Factor5? Time will tell. I'm excited every time I hear more games are announced for Wii.

Just a week after its release nintendo would like to givve everyone bits of information on their upcomeing brain game.

REDMOND, Wash., June 13 /PRNewswire/ -- Quick -- which weighs more, three snails or a ladybug? How much is seven plus nine plus four? And was that sequence of sounds you just heard baby-baby-girl or girl-baby-baby?

Nintendo's new Big Brain Academy(TM) challenges players with a series of wacky mental tests in areas such as thinking, memorization, computation, analysis and identification. Players complete as many of these tasks as possible in 60 seconds as the difficulty level rises. Big Brain Academy, the second installment in Nintendo's wildly popular brain-training series, launched June 5 exclusively for Nintendo DS(TM).

In Big Brain Academy, users encounter a series of 15 different tests that involve use of the Nintendo DS touch screen. Activities include counting the number of blocks in a stack, matching pairs of colorful panels and deducing which object on a set of scales weighs the most. Big Brain Academy then rates users' performances by giving them a letter grade, suggesting a career option based on their areas of strength and assigning their in-game brain a weight. The better the score, the heavier the brain.

Brain training has become a worldwide phenomenon. The three software titles in the Nintendo DS series have sold more than 6 million copies in Japan. The first brain-training software, Brain Age(TM): Train Your Brain in Minutes a Day, went on sale in the United States on April 17.

Up to eight DS owners can compete wirelessly in multiplayer games, even if only one person has a game card. Since the wii had a strong showing at E3 expect publishers to put ther very best on it. :D maybe im just getting too excited.

egm is stateing in its latest article that some developers are "ditching" ps3 development in favor of wii. Reasons include high priceing and wii's E3 showing last may.

The biggest rumor from EGM’s rumor section is that many third party developers are ditching their PS3 projects in favor of the Wii. This change can most likely be attributed to a combination of a strong Wii showing at E3, and the high pricepoint of the PS3.

LucasArts is hearing the cries of Wii fans everywhere. A rumored Star Wars game is coming to the Wii (exclusive), and lightsaber battles will be the main focus of the title.

The much wanted black ds lites have gone missing while being shipped to hong kong. The police suspect that it could have been stolen by the black market. The estimated value for the missing merchandise, sealed in a cargo container is 2.3 million dollars. The police hope to get to the bottom of this and are offering a very hefty reward that leads to arrests. I guess the ds lite is very demanded!

nintendo reported earlier today that its sales for the ds lite have reached 136 500 units in two days. If it reaches 500 000 in ten days it will match the ds fat's launch sales. Also of note it is outselling the very popular gba sp on its launch day by a rate of 12%! :D Lastly sales of brain age and new super mario bros have widely increased. Lets see if the ds lite can maintain its momentum.

ds lite first look.

I just got my ds lite 2 days ago and I am very excited! It's screens are so bright, and the colors are absolutely awsomn! Both screens have equal lighting not like on the regular ds where the top screen was brighter. Everytime I look at the images produced on the ds lite, it seems to look like vivid sharp colored laminated plastic. When I took it out of the box i noticed that it was a little smaller than i had expected it to be! The buttons feel smooth and very easy to use especially with mario kart.

I have 4 problems with the ds lite, they are that the gba slot is much smaller, the gba cover is un eaven masking the un eavenness on the ds lite, also the volume seems to be lower, and when the clear plastic meets with the white plastic on the sides of the machine I am scared that some food or dirt might get into the crease. Otherwise, i am completely content with my ds lite.
Lastly since i got my ds lite, i am waiting for my M3 perfect and flash card 2 to come from gamersection.ca, they were very easy to deal with and largely informative. im excited for next week!
